The Sudbury Spartans were out for revenge during their last home game of the regular season.
Thanks to their outstanding offensive line and strong defence, the Spartans shutout the Sault Steelers 35-0 Saturday night before the biggest crowd of the season. With the win, the Spartans even their home turf record at 2 wins and 2 losses and now head to the road for their final 2 contests of the season.
Before the game even started, the Molson – Coors Light Beer Tent was buzzing with fans, pumping up the crowd to help push their Spartan’s to victory. On the field prior to the game, Spartans Riley Roy, Josh Cuomo, Hunter Holub and Ben Fenton were recognized as Miller High Life performers of the season. Each received a backpack for their efforts the past three months.
Lowell Linekar was rewarded as one of the Journal Printing fans of the game for painting his body in Spartan blue. Carly White was the other fan of the game, also receiving a gift card to a local restaurant.
Overall the Spartan’s were pleased with the effort on the field as the hard work in practise over the past 2 weeks, coupled with the bye-week rest, really worked in their favour.
Spartans take to the road this Saturday to play the Tri-City Outlaws in a pivotal match that could prove to be the difference in the season and the post-season position the Spartans earn.
